BENNETTSVILLE - The search for a third suspect in a Laurinburg, N.C. pharmacy robbery, has now ended, according to the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office.

Joseph Lockemy, who was the third suspect that fled the scene of the crime on Monday, along with two other suspects, is now in custody, according to the MCSO.

According to the Marlboro County Sheriff's Department in Blenheim, Lockemy was captured last Tuesday off of S.C. 38 South.

Lt. Jamie Seales of the MCSO said that Lockemy is also wanted in North Carolina for prior charges of burglary and failure to stop for a blue light. He is also wanted in South Carolina for failure to stop for a blue light and the possession of a controlled substance.

"Lockemy, is on probation in connection with previous pharmacy break-ins," said Seales.

That incident turned into a series of events that resulted in two arrests on Monday and Lockemy's arrest on Tuesday.

According to Seales, Laurinburg Police officers were called to a pharmacy near the Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg around 2:30 a.m. Arriving at the scene, officers spotted three white male suspects, Jeffery Polston, 33, Ronnie Adams, Jr. 36, and Joseph Lockemy, 31, fleeing the drug store parking lot in a vehicle, which prompted the chase. According to Seales, Laurinburg police chased the suspects into Marlboro County through McColl and into Brownsville, Blenheim and Clio, before the truck crashed on Highway 38, near Acadia Road.

"That chase ended near I-95 and S.C. 34 in southern Marlboro County. They wrecked the car and fled on foot. Our tracking unit started tracking them around 4:30 a.m. with the bloodhounds. By 9:30 a.m., we had captured two of the suspects, Adams and Polston, and had taken them into custody," said Seales. He added, "All three suspects have a prior criminal history." Seales stressed that the Marlboro County Police Department, Marlboro County Sheriff's Office, Marlboro County Sheriff's Office Tracking Team, Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office; along with their Helicopter Team, the S.C. Highway Patrol, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, Dillon County Sheriff's Office, Bennettsville Police Department, Laurinburg Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), assisted in the case.
