CHERAW - Last week, several members of the Cheraw Family Worship Center in conjunction with Maranatha Family Worship and Word of Life Church, made a statement for Christ as they gathered in "Solemn Assembly" to spread God's Word throughout the community.

On Oct. 18, Cheraw Family Worship Pastor Jeff Hart, along with several adults and youth, set out on a mission to carry a large cross, the Christian Flag and the Israeli Flag, which bears the Star of David, down the streets of Cheraw to Hwy 9. The group began their first trip at Town Hall and also at Centennial Park. Before beginning each journey, they bowed their heads in prayer asking God for strength and courage. During their "One Nation Under God March," they made various pit stops to pray for businesses, schools, hospitals, and anyone else who needed prayer. "The large cross was built by members of Maranatha Family Worship. We are trying to display our faith to others by obeying the Lord. Our town as well as other towns, needs prayer and healing in this day and time. We need a healing of the land, just as in Joel, chapter 2. This can only come by prayer and faith," said Hart. "Our mission is based on the book of Joel 2:14, which reads, Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord." Danny Williams, senior commander for the Royal Rangers at CFW added, "It is always good to have youth involved and interested in doing the Lord's work. We appreciate everyone who has participated and we hope what we are doing will help others." Aside from Pastor Hart, others who took part in the walk starting at Centennial Park included, Joshua Cox, Danny Williams, Shane Hewitt, Coty Gainey, Aretas Phillips, Bill Bristow, Melaney Cox, Lauren Williams and Micheala Hewitt.
