CHESTERFIELD – Residents in Chesterfield County as well as Darlington, Sumter, Rock Hill and also Washington, D.C., are given an opportunity each month to voice their concerns through U.S. Congressman John M. Spratt’s Congressional Aide, Linda Mixon.
Spratt represents the fifth District (D-5), which includes all or part of 14 counties in north-central South Carolina. The counties are Cherokee, Chester, Chesterfield, Darlington, Dillon, Fairfield, Florence (part), Kershaw, Lancaster, Lee (part), Marlboro, Newberry, Sumter (part), and York.
Last Thursday, several Chesterfield County residents ventured out to speak with Mixon, which included one concern on the nation’s healthcare issue as well as others.
“I take all of the citizen’s concerns back to Congressman Spratt’s office for him to review. We hear it all and we listen to each one carefully. The people are important. If we can’t answer a question, we provide the appropriate resources and refer them to those resources. All of the concerns are recorded in Washington, D.C.,” she added.
Each third Thursday of every month, Mixon visits the Town of Chesterfield from 10 am. – 12 noon inside the Chesterfield County Courthouse to hear the voice of the people regarding certain issues they feel need to be addressed.
On Jan. 21, she was available and prepared to try and answer questions and concerns of the citizen’s of Chesterfield County. Mixon considers herself as a ‘public servant’ has been on staff with the Spratt team’s Sumter District Congressional Office since 1985.
“We can often help people with concerns such as their social security disability claims, veteran concerns and Veteran’s Administration issues, the military, Medicare and immigration concerns as well as several other issues,” said Mixon.
Aside from her Congressional duties, Mixon is a wife and a mother of nine children. She said she loves her family and her career.
“I really enjoy life. I love working with people and making new contacts as well as with those within the District. Congressman John Spratt is your getaway to the federal government and his staff is ready to help any way possible.”
