CHESTERFIELD – Mrs. Barbara Rayfield Benefiel, 83, died Jan. 27, 2010.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Jan. 31, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel

Burial followed in the Sandy Plains United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation was held 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Benefiel was born May 2, 1926 a daughter of the late Peter Claude and Allie Elizabeth Adams Rayfield. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and Columbia Commercial College. Mrs. Benefiel was a retired textile employee.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James Grant Benefiel; a sibling, Jerry G. Privette; and three brothers, Mack Rayfield, Caston “Shorty” Rayfield, and Howard C. “Bill” Rayfield.

Surviving is a son, Jerry Grant Benefiel of Chesterfield; a daughter, Kathy B. Privette of Chesterfield; two grandsons, Daniel and Joseph Privette of Chesterfield; a brother, Lloyd “Bud” Rayfield of Phoenix, AZ; three sisters, Louise Davis and Sarah Outen of Pageland, and Olivia Davis of Greer.
