The S.C. Employment Security Commission (SCESC) has received information from the regional office of the U.S. Department of Labor in Atlanta indicating that the U.S. Senate has not passed legislation to continue Federal Additional Compensation (FAC), which provides an extra payment of $25 per week in unemployment benefits, or Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC).

Those claimants filing EUC claims for the week ending February 27 are not affected and should file claims as usual.

Without Congressional action, FAC and EUC ends for all claimants who do not have an established EUC claim on or before Feb. 28, 2010.

The debate in Congress is on going. The S.C. Employment Security Commission is monitoring the situation and expects to have additional information soon.
