CHERAW – In appreciation of their hard work and effort, Fatz Café’ of Cheraw, in conjunction with the Cheraw Cheravian Club, sponsored a pancake breakfast fundraiser on Saturday to raise money for the Cheraw Police Department.

Members of the Cheraw Police Department participated by serving customers breakfast consisting of three pancakes, two pieces of bacon and a drink.

“This is my way to give back to the community. I enjoy helping others and by holding these events, it helps the people and organizations that deserve it most,” said Manager Nang Nguyen.

“One of our goals in our Cheravian mission statement is to help the Cheraw Police Department, the Cheraw Rescue Squad and the Cheraw Fire Department,” said Sammy Quick of the Cheravian Club.The police department worked closely with Quick in helping to sell the tickets at $5 each for the pancake breakfast.

“I especially want to thank Nang wholeheartedly for all he has done in helping make this event successful.” Quick said.

More than 700 tickets were sold for the fundraiser and at least 500 people were served from 7-10 a.m. on Saturday.

Nguyen said that the restaurant is planning two other separate fundraisers on May 15 and May 22.
