SOCIETY HILL - Miss Society Hill Teen, Destiny Knox, hosted the first annual Easter parade and festival in Lockhart, SC.

Knox, in conjunction with her family and friends, planned the event for the Town of Lockhart and to honor Officer John Nash of the State Highway Patrol. According to Ann Breckenridge, Miss Society Hill Scholarship Pageant Director, Corp. Nash, who was a citizen of Lockhart, was killed in an accident while he was paying honor to another officer who had died in the line of duty.

Miss Society Hill Cayla McDaniel, Knox and 12 motorcycle patrolmen planted a tree in memory of Cpl. Nash during the festival. The parade and festival were a big success as the citizens of Lockhart ventured out for this special, first-time event. During the course of the day, Knox and McDaniel captured the attention of everyone present as they both took the stage and highlighted on their platforms. They also spoke on how they are preparing for competing for the titles in the upcoming 2010 Miss South Carolina Pageant in July, of Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen.

“I hope everyone will wish these two remarkable young ladies the best and give them their support as they continue their journey towards the crown in the 2010 Miss South Carolina Pageant,” Breckenridge said.

McDaniel and Knox led the parade proudly as McDaniel was also presented the key to the city by the Mayor of Lockhart.

McDaniel and Knox stay very active in doing community service by attending several events and fundraisers. On April 17, the duo sponsored a Charity Ride to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. McDaniel And Knox will be holding a fundraiser on May 15 at Sam’s Club in Florence to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network.

McDaniel spent the day at the state capital with the S.C. Representatives on April 21. They also will be making several trips to Spartanburg in May, in which they will attend the Forum that is scheduled for May 7 and 8.

During the Memorial Day weekend they will be participating in the Scottish Games and have a chance to meet the Prince of Edinburgh.
