July 15-Aug. 13

YMCA fall sports registration is being held at the front desk of the Chesterfield Family YMCA. Please bring the child’s birth certificate with you to registration. Flag football ages 6-8, cost is $20 for member and $35 for non-member; contact football ages 9-10 (small fry) and 11-12 (mites), cost is $45 for member and $60 for non-member. For small fry, the child cannot be turning 11 before Dec. 1 and must reach age 9 before the first practice. For mites, the child cannot be turning 13 before Dec. 1; soccer ages 4-6 (instruction league), ages 7-9 (small fry), ages 10-12 (mites) and ages 13-15 (midgets), cost is $30 for member and $45 for non-member; cheerleading ages 9-10 (small fry) and ages 11-12 (mites), cost is $25 for member and $40 for non-member. Free Fridays On Main - The Chesterfield Arts Commission will host a Movie on Main with a showing of the movie “Raiders of the Lost Ark” at The Palmetto Pavilion, located beside the Chesterfield Library, on Main Street in Chesterfield on Friday, July 16 beginning at 7 p.m. There is no cost to attend this community event.

2010 VBS - Saddle Ridge Ranch will be at C4 located at 110 Green St., Chesterfield. We will have VBS Kick Off on Friday, July 16th beginning at 6 p.m. with food, fun, and fellowship, followed by worship with ‘1touch’ and ‘generation neXt’.

On Saturday, July 17, C4, will hold a one-day long Vacation Bible School on Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. with breakfast, followed with a dinner at 5:00 pm. Please join us.

Free Worship Church located at 915 Chesterfield Hwy. in Cheraw, will hold a Motorcycle Sunday “Cookout and Block” party at 10 a.m., come rain or shine. The event will benefit the new church ministry, complete with bikers and a live band. Guest speaker will be Jim Gillespie and Buck Buchanan. The benefit will go to help the new church’s new ministry. Aug.2-6

Aug. 3

The United Way of Chesterfield County annual meeting/campaign volunteer training will be held during the Board meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. in the Commons Room of the Chesterfield County Department of Social Services, 201 North Page Street, Chesterfield. Refreshments will be served.

Cheraw Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held in Cheraw Saturday through Wednesday. Open speaker meetings are held Sundays at 8 p.m. On Mondays a “Big Book” study group meets at 8 p.m. The sharing group meets on Tuesdays at noon; Wednesdays at 8 p.m. is a closed discussion group and Saturdays at noon there is 12 and 12 study groups. The South Carolina Division, United Daughters of the Confederacy, is working on chartering a new UDC chapter in the Cheraw/Bennettsville area. The application fee is $40 and it is not paid until the application is actually submitted.

Cheraw First Baptist Church has a free supper every Tuesday night from 6-7:30 p.m. The church is located at the corner of Market and Greene Street in Cheraw. For more information or transportation, call Jan Mahon at (843) 537-9358.

Westside Baptist Church has a church sponsored soup kitchen every Wednesday night at the church 5-7 p.m. A church service follows at 7:15 p.m.

The Greater Pee Dee Animal Rescue meets on the third Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. at Mary’s Restaurant, on Market St in Cheraw. We have a hot dog sale at the IGA in Cheraw on the first Saturday each of month. The money raised will go to the spayed and neuter program.
