Agape Hospice of the Pee Dee is pleased to announce the association of Reverend Kay Wood as a “bereavement coordinator”. Her previous career as a nurse and the recent completion of her Master’s Degree in Art and Religion as well as being a United Methodist minister, gives Wood a unique perspective on both family and patient needs during the dying process and the time of bereavement.

Hospice care is a unique interdisciplinary program which focuses on symptom management and palliative care for terminal illnesses. A team of registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, social workers, and chaplains evaluate the individual needs of the patient and family and, working under the direction of a physician, develop unique and patient-centered approaches.

As a part of this free Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance provided service, bereavement services are a major component of hospice care. Agape Hospice of the Pee Dee, as a ministry of Agape Senior, provides all of these services to patients and families regardless of payer source.

“We are delighted to have Kay as a part of our ministry team at Agape Hospice. She brings years of clinical and pastoral experience to our team. Our patients and their families will be the beneficiaries of her gifts, talents, and experience,” said Dr. Jimmie Williamson, Pee Dee regional president of Agape Hospice.

She is married to Rev. Paul Wood, senior pastor at First United Methodist Church, Cheraw, and they are the parents of two adult children, Jane and Paul III.
