Loris-- Shirley Rabon Martin died Sept.1, 2010.

Funeral services were held Sept. 5, 2010 at the Ward Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Freddie Martin and Rev. Rusty Brown officiating. Burial followed in the Twin City Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was held Sept. 7 at Ward Funeral Home in Loris, SC from 6 – 8 p.m.

Shirley was born in Chesterfield County on August 7, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Bert and Alma Odom Perdue. Shirley was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and was an employee of Horry’s Restaurant for 27 years. She was a loving wife and a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and mother-in-law.

Shirley was preceeded in death by her first husband, Rev. Franklin Rudolph Rabon with whom they shared 34 years of marriage, six children, fifteen grandchildren, and twenty-two great grandchildren. Also preceeding her in death were children, Kendall “Rabi” Rabon of Hartsville; Almajean “Amy” McDowell of Loris, SC; brother, Floyd Perdue of Hartsville, SC, and sister, Katie Linda Perdue of Hartsville, SC.

Surviving are a loving and devoted husband of 6 years, Carlon Rudolph Martin and children Wayne Rabon of Patrick, SC, Margo (Tim) Cox of Loris, SC, Millie Smith of Loris, SC, Locket (Tim) Ebbs of Loris, SC, Geane (Sammy) Caines of Aynor, SC, Keith Martin of Loris, SC, Carlon Martin of Dillon, SC, and Michelle Martin of Myrtle Beach, SC.

Shirley also leaves behind a sister and brother that she held very dear to her heart, Clara Mae Brown of Patrick, SC and James (Shelby) Perdue of Hartsville, SC.

Memorials may be sent to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 4350 Red Bluff Road, Loris, SC 29569.
