Funeral services were held Sept. 13, at Pee Dee Union Baptist Church. Burial followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery of Cheraw.
McClendon, son of Dollie Elaine Humphrey McClendon and the late Turner Grant McClendon, Jr. was born on March 13, 1959, in New York City, New York. He attended the New York City Public Schools and graduated from Canarsie High School in Brooklyn. Keith accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at Pee Dee Union Baptist Church. He served on the Senior Usher Board and attended church regularly until his health began to fail.
While living in New York he was employed with River Manor Care Center. Keith relocated to Cheraw, South Carolina in 1990. While living in Cheraw, he was employed with Takata; Pepsi-Cola; Camp Sandhills; Chesterfield County Board of Disabilities (CHESCO Services); Smithfield meat packing plant and Morris Funeral Cottage.
Keith was a strong, independent and outgoing person and was very generous, loved helping people, and always greeted you with a smile.
Surviving is his mother, Dollie E. McClendon, four brothers Turner McClendon III (Wanda) of Huntersville, N.C.; Craig McClendon of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Anthony McClendon of Cheraw and Aaron McClendon (Daphne) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sisters, Sharon Ien (Michael) of Brooklyn, N.Y., Bridget McClendon, of Cheraw and Charlette McClendon of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two uncles Charles McClendon (Vera) of Beaufort, and Wilson A. Humphrey of Cheraw; four aunts Lillian Elizabeth Wilson, of Cheraw, Wilhelmina Middleton (Sam) of Sheldon, Yvonne Burke (Corey) and Carol Flanders of Page Point; also Alma Byrd and other relatives and friends.
Morris Funeral Cottage of Cheraw was in charge of the service.
