ANNUAL REVIVAL SERVICES

CHERAW BRANCH NAACP 33rd ANNIVERSARY FREEDOM FUND BANQUET

WHAT: This year’s festivities will continue to uphold the dignity, values, and truths of the past while pursuing justice for all mankind. Also, the Branch will offer a scholarship to a deserving high school graduate. The speaker will be Elder Sandra K. THE WALKING IN AUTHORITY FASHION SHOW

JEFFERSON 2ND ANNUAL BLUE JAY FESTIVAL

WHAT: The 2nd annual Blue Jay Festival will begin on Saturday, Oct. 6, with a softball tournament and the Miss Blue Jay Pageant. Festivities will continue Friday, Oct. 12, through Saturday, Oct. 13, with Jefferson’s Got Talent, 5K Run/Walk, the Blue Jay Parade and ending with a dance on Saturday night. JAZZ LUNCHEON

DIZZY GILLESPIE SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT

WHEN: Oct. 19

WHERE: Cheraw State Park Golf Course

WHAT: Each year the Dizzy Gillespie Scholarship Golf Tournament is held the third week of October, in conjunction with the Cheraw Jazz Festival. The organizations primary goal is to help students of Chesterfield County attend schools of higher education. You may show your support by sponsoring a team for the tournament or max a free donation to the scholarship fund.

“MEET THE PIONEERS” FALL WALKING TOUR

WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m.

WHERE: Foundry Hill Cemetery

WHAT: Come and join us for our 1st annual “Meet the Pioneers” Fall Cemetery Walking Tour at Foundry Hill Cemetery. We will learn about the contributions of local African Americans and where they are buried. Mr. Ted Bradley a caretaker of the cemetery and Felicia Flemming-McCall will be the tour guides. We will meet you at the front of the cemetery on Marion Street. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes and bring along your book, African Americans of Chesterfield County if you like.
