Two South Carolina lawmakers — Rep. Ted Vick, D-Chesterfield/Lancaster, and Rep. Mike Pitts, R-Laurens — were recognized this week by the National Rifle Association with its highest ratings a legislator can receive nationwide, A and A+, respectively.
Both legislators are known to work across the aisle on issues pertaining to gun rights, land conservation, while protecting hunting and fishing rights, said the association. The two men attended the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Annual Officers’ Banquet.
Both men have served recent terms as chairman of the South Carolina House Sportsman’s Caucus and both have chaired the Wildlife Committee in the SC House of Representatives. Currently, Pitts serves as the president of the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses.
These two legislators attended an event at Richard Childress Vineyard where they helped raise more than $700,000 to continue efforts nationwide to conserve, protect, and defend rights to outdoors and the right to enjoy them.
For their efforts, the NRA announced it endorses both candidates for their re-election to the SC Statehouse.
