Oneida M. Chewning, 86, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Chewning was born March 21, 1926, in Cheraw, a daughter of the late Lewis Oscar and Mary Jane Adams McDuffie. She was a graduate of Cheraw High School and a retired dietitian with Chesterfield County School System. Chewning was also a cashier at the Country Kitchen. She was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, and was also a volunteer at Chesterfield General Hospital. Oneida enjoyed sewing, baking, playing dominoes, and being a member of the Senior Circle. In addition to her parents, Oneida was also preceded in death by her husband, Hector W. Chewning; a grandson, Dale Owen; and by her three brothers, Otis, Wade, and Talmadge McDuffie.
She is survived by one son: Steve (Janice) Chewning of Cheraw, two daughters: Mary Ellen (Rock) Stone of Chesterfield, and Teresa (Tom) Owen of Cheraw, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and special caregivers: Rachel Curtis and Melinda Smith.
