The Four Season’s Garden Club has chosen the Keith and Glenda Thomas home at 606 Pinewood Drive as November Yard of the Month.
Glenda designed the home which they have been living in for eight years. Glenda has graced the inside of the house with lots of flower arrangements that she has made. They love the quiet area that surrounds the house for raising their two young children. They enjoy doing projects for their place that get sandwiched in between their busy careers.
Together, Keith and Glenda put in the flowing curved beds around the house. Glenda planned the designs, they noted the edges with spray paint and then Keith dug the beds out. Glenda did all the research on what plants to buy and she worked at getting plants that will give the beds color all year long. Especially striking are the ‘Knock Out’ roses near their front door. Across the front are ‘Firepower’ Nandinas that attract the eye and complement the deep red brick color of the house. The Japanese maple accenting the front corner lends an air of grace and elegance to the setting. Other shrubs she has used are ‘Soft-touch’ Hollies, loropetalum and yaupon hollies.
They have had 15 pines taken out behind the house. They have added a large deck onto the back of the house and will soon have that deck surrounded with perennial plantings. In back they are building a small shop for Keith which will also have plants around it.
Glenda loves to decorate for Christmas. This little street may be one of the detours that you will take during the busy holiday season.
