John Robert “Johnny” Purvis, 60, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, Dec. 3, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield. Interment will follow in the Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is from 2 to 3 p.m., Monday, Dec. 3, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Purvis was born Jan. 30, 1952, in Patrick, a son of the late Perry and Eliza Caroline Boan Purvis. He was a former employee of Delta Mills. In addition to his parents, Purvis is also preceded in death by two brothers, Willard and Francis Purvis and by one sister, Novella Crowley.

He is survived by one son, Steven (Lori) Purvis of Cheraw, one daughter, Robin (Thomas) Taylor of Cheraw, two sisters, Betty R. Brigman of Bennettsville, and Bonnie P. Wilkes of Hartsville. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.

Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home of Chesterfield, is serving the family.
