Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School in Darlington participated in the 36th Pee-Dee Regional High School Mathematics Tournament on Tuesday, Dec. 4, hosted by Francis Marion University. Trinity-Byrnes placed first in Division III for Independent Schools.
The Trinity-Byrnes participants were Boone Aiken, Courtney Alcorn, Ellis Burner, Christian Carey, Jeff Chen, Cierra Kaiser, Chloe Johnson, Taylor Jones, Grant MacPherson, Will Naso and Robin Whiteman. The teacher coaches were Susan Heitsman and Steve Benigni.
The students had individual written competition to determine which schools advanced to the Tournament finals. Jeff Chen placed first overall in the written competion of all the students in the entire tournament answering 13 of 18 questions correctly.
Four TBCS students represented the school in the finals: Jeff Chen, Christian Carey, Chloe Johnson and Robin Whiteman.
