Doris Jean McCaig Chapman, 80, widow of Luther Chapman, died Monday, June 18, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Don Childers and the Rev. Joseph Morgan will officiate with burial in the Society Hill Latter-day Saints Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born in Amarilla, Texas, Mrs. Chapman was a daughter of the late John R. and Florence O’Neal McCaig. She was a member of the Timmonsville Church of God and was a retired cosmetologist.
Surviving are her son, Johnny (Phyllis) Chapman of Society Hill; daughters, Shirley Chapman of Society Hill, Hilda (Phil) Coker of Florence, Charlotte (Donnie) Edwards of Effingham, Florence Dale “Fat Cat” Chapman of Society Hill; sister, Shirley Faye Milligan of Apache, Okla.; grandchildren, Dewey Dean (Margaret) Chapman, Jamie (Alvin) Byrd, Allen Freeman, Vicky Chapman, Ashley Jean (Jon) Shields, Sebastian Coker; great-grandchildren, Christopher Shields, Ricky Dale Shields, Ansley Chapman, Mackenzie Chapman, Tegan Chapman and Parker Byrd.
