Howard S. Lofton, age 75, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield. Interment will follow in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens, Cheraw.
Visitation will be 1- 2 p.m., Wednesday, prior to the service at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mr. Lofton was born Jan. 14, 1937 in Cheraw, a son of the late Howard and Nellie Howle Lofton. He was a graduate of Cheraw High School and Wingate College. He was former owner of Jamaican Suntan Product Company and a merchant at the Pee Dee State Farmers Market. Howard enjoyed shagging and beach music. In addition to his parents, Howard was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dana Lofton, and a brother Wade Hampton Lofton.
Lofton is survived by a wife of 54 years, Bonnie Jean Gaskins Lofton of the home, one daughter, Debbie Tart of North Myrtle Beach, one brother, Jimmy (Sarah) Lofton of Cheraw, one sister, Betty (Terry) Isgett of Florence, and three grandchildren.
