BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Jessie Lucille Gattison Rose, 67, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2012.

A funeral service was held Aug. 23 at Charity Community Church of Christ.

Rose was the third child and second daughter born of the late Joseph Gadson (Gattison) and the late Mildred Bernice Fair Mack Gattison on Nov. 28, 1944, in Chesterfield County, S.C.

Rose accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age when she attended Triumph Holiness Church in Cheraw, S.C. She was educated in the Chesterfield County school system. After graduating from Long High School in 1963, she attended Area Trade School in Denmark, S.C., to become a seamstress.

On Sept. 18, 1965, she married the love of her life, the late James Allen Rose Jr. God blessed this union with two devoted sons; James Kelvin Rose and Darrington Kenneth Rose.

After relocating to Brooklyn, she continued serving the Lord Jesus Christ at the Mount Ollie Baptist Church and was employed by and retired from Chase Manhatten Bank after 30 years of service. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Mount Ollie Baptist Church and served diligently and faithfully until her health prohibited her from serving.

She was also a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

She leaves to cherish her memory; two sons, Kelvin (Tia) and Barrington of Md.; three grandchildren, Kelvin Latrell Rose of Baltimore, Md., Zaynah Soleil Rose of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Nickalaus James Rose of Baltimore, Md.; one sister, Lillian Gattison McPherson of Mount Vernon, N.Y., and two brothers, Lacoste (Yvonne Rose) Gattison of Cheraw, S.C., and Joseph Leonard Gattison of Orangeburg, S.C.; one brother-in-law, Jerry Rose; three sister-in-laws, Gloria Ladson, Elaine Lucky and a special friend/sister-in-law, Brenda Rose-Roberts of Brooklyn, and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Jr. and Theodore Roosevelt.
