PAGELAND, S.C. — Verlene Threatt Blakeney, 58, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at CMC-Union Monroe, N.C.

Funeral service was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at Flint Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, Pageland.

Interment followed in the Flint Ridge Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.

Blakeney, daughter of the late David Threatt and Ethel Mae Blakeney Threatt, was born on Nov. 10, 1953, in Pageland, South Carolina. She was a life long member of Flint Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as president of the usher board, was a member of the Praise Team, and a member of the Praise and Faith Choir. She was also a member of Roosevelt Chapter #270, Order of the Eastern Star. She was employed with Tyson Foods Hatchery for twenty-six years in Monroe, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by a brother, David Earl Threatt.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Wesley Blakeney, Sr.; three sons, Tyrone Anthony Blakeney, Ralpheas Blakeney (Tia) and Carl Wesley Blakeney, Jr. (LaGena), all of Pageland, SC; five daughters, Kim Smith (Steven), Pageland, SC, Angela Coleman (Marlon), Mt. Croghan, SC, Deshanna Tyson (Corey), Mt. Croghan, SC, LaTosha Deese (Richard), Monroe, NC and Kayla Blakeney of the home; four sisters, Rosa Nivens (Thomas), Pageland, SC, Jerlene Barrett (Larry), Indian Trail, NC, Carrie Glenn (Larry), Columbia, SC and Doreen Miller (Harvey), Jefferson, SC; seventeen grandchildren, five great grandchildren; five brothers, -in-law, five sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Flemming Funeral Home was in charge.
