Roxie Mills Joplin, 77, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at her home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield.

Interment will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Croghan.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the funeral home.

Joplin was born Oct. 6, 1935, in Chesterfield, a daughter of the late David Lee and Carrie Henrietta Jordan Mills. She was a former employee of Chesterfield Yarn Mill and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Joplin enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Roxie was also preceded in death by her husband, J. L. Joplin, grandson, Bobby Hudson, son-in-law, Harry Donahue, brothers, Curtis Lee, Johnny B. and Benny Ray Mills, and by sisters, Lessie Hammonds, Bessie Price, and Minnie Mae McCorkle.

Survivors include three sons: Danny (Millie) Joplin of Mt. Croghan, Thomas Ray (Gail) Joplin of Patrick, and J. L. (Tera) Joplin Jr. of Mt. Croghan, one daughter: Shirley Joplin Donahue of Mt. Croghan, and 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, one brother: Joe Lee Mills of Kannapolis, N.C., two sisters: Tressie Johnson of Mt. Croghan, and Essie Wallace of Pageland.
