US security adviser: “The new Russian army leadership is more brutal than the previous one” outside the country

Alexander Dvornikov commanded Russian forces in Syria in 2015 and 2016, and his time at the head of the army was marked by heavy bombardment of rebel-held areas, as well as the civilian population of Aleppo.

Jake Sullivan now says that Dvornikov’s promotion will lead to more atrocities. “This particular general has a résumé full of brutality against civilians and we can expect more of the same in Ukraine,” Sullivan said.

Dvornikov will be another author of crimes and atrocities against Ukrainian civilians. Therefore, the United States is determined to do everything in its power to support the Ukrainians if they oppose the armed forces led by Dvornikov.”

The fact that Dvornikov is now at the helm of power, according to experts, will be an attempt by Moscow to put everything in order militarily and forget about serious setbacks. After fierce Ukrainian resistance, Russia appears to be regrouping for a potentially long battle in the Donbass, in the east of the country.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told NBC News: “Ukraine won the battle of Kyiv. Now comes another battle, the battle of Donbass.”
