Lewis Hamilton finished second in last night’s sprint race. The British Mercedes driver wanted to overtake Max Verstappen, but it was not possible. The Dutchman was very fast, but Hamilton notes that he learned a lot from the sprint race.
Hamilton started the sprint race on the second row, but dropped back to second after a good start. He was able to hold off Max Verstappen’s pace for the first few laps, but after that the party was over. Hamilton was able to enjoy the Red Bull ahead of him for a few more laps, but Verstappen disappeared over the horizon. Hamilton learned a lot more.
Hamilton later said the spins behind Verstappen helped him. The seven-time world champion Briton told international media he would use it to race: “It was a good position to watch Red Bull. I could see what Max’s car was doing and how the car was doing. Where they looked. It was strong, that’s what I could confirm with the GPS. We know where I’m strong and where I’m weak. So I can see that.”
