Major Australian ports have resumed operations. This was announced by port operator DP World. Last week, several of the country’s major ports were paralyzed by a cyberattack.
The cyber attack occurred on Friday. Therefore, trucks were unable to unload or load goods at the ports of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Fremantle.
The main computer systems were successfully tested overnight from Sunday to Monday so activities can resume. During the day, about 5,000 containers will leave the four terminals, a number close to normal daily trade. The port operator does not rule out temporary disturbances in the coming days.
Shipping companies confirm that port activities resumed early in the morning. Getting containers out of terminals seems to be the priority now. The concerned ports represent 40 percent of the country’s cargo volume.
