Thierry Baudet and the other two representatives of the Dutch Forum for Democracy (FVD) were suspended from parliament for seven days because they did not register additional positions. House rules require such registration.
Concretely, it has to do with the fact that they did not declare the proceeds from the sale of the meal boxes. Member of Parliament Gideon van Meegeren received an additional reprimand for not resigning from his work as a member of the city council of The Hague and the district council of South Holland.
The majority of members of the House of Representatives voted to suspend the entire FVD faction. Suspended representatives are not allowed to participate in parliamentary debates. However, they are still allowed to participate in voting.
Baudet was suspended once before because he did not declare any additional income. Van Meijeren and Frederik Jansen were also reprimanded for this earlier. The party said in its response: “The suspension of our members of parliament is nothing less than an insult to voters and a severe undermining of the election results and democracy.”
