Everton are in danger of losing points again due to financial mismanagement

English football club Everton is in danger of receiving another serious blow at the sporting level. Having previously been forced to hand out 10 points for financial mismanagement, the Premier League has opened a new investigation. Nottingham Forest are also in the spotlight.

Everton, who crossed that line, received the bill this season: they had to pick up 10 points and drop into the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Everton, playing at the highest level since 1954, are one point above the danger zone again, but the headache is far from over. The Premier League has now also opened an investigation into the 2023 financial year.

If the independent panel finds financial mismanagement again, they risk losing points again. Everton still has ongoing appeals proceedings against the first penalty. If this proves to be true, the second investigation will also be cancelled.

Nottingham Forest's accounts are also being audited. He was promoted to the Premier League after a 23-year absence, but has spent several million to keep himself at the highest level.

Smaller clubs feel targeted because the investigation into big club Manchester City has not yet been completed. The national champion is accused of nearly 80 financial rule violations from 2009 to 2018.
