The zoning plan for the area between Vossemlaan and Waalsestraat originally consisted of building 17 houses. Now the subdivision application, now reduced to 11 homes, has been rejected again. “The fact that the entire municipal council rejects this new special allocation of the road proves the consensus regarding our spatial policy,” says spatial planning Alderman Bart Dewandeler. He is not worried about destroying the former minister. “She rejected a number of arguments but also agreed with a number of other elements.”
However, Dewandeleer has a lot to comment on in terms of content. “The design blocks the view of the beautiful country farm-style villa because three houses have been built in front of it. There is also insufficient water supply. Another thorn in the side is that the plans provide impetus for the next phase, without clarity on the design.”
“We have to cherish our rare open space,” Dewandler emphasizes. “We are clearly committed to protecting it. In addition to stopping the development of private land, we have also recently converted 3.7 hectares of residential area in the beautiful Bosdel area of Strebeek into agricultural areas.
