Sint-Pieters-Leeuw is converting 6 hectares of residential area into agricultural and park areas

On 28 March 2024 the municipal council approved the provisional designation of RUP Reysberg, with the result that the original agricultural area, converted into a residential area by the VSGB 20 years ago, is now being converted back into open space.

Bart Kimullen, local councilor for the environment: “The purpose of the Risberg Spatial Implementation Plan (RUP) is to transform the area previously designated as residential into open space. This fits into the municipal policy vision, focusing on preserving green spaces and strengthening the open space structure.” More than two-thirds of the area is dedicated to agriculture, and the remaining part, which is closest to the residential area, will be reused as a park area.
The RUP Reysberg is the result of a precise process in which various steps have been completed. The scheme is drawn up in accordance with the municipal structure plan and aims, among other things, to preserve the undeveloped space, enhance the open space structure and preserve the two existing houses in the plan area.

Jan DeSmith, Mayor: “This decision is part of the land consolidation freeze decided by the municipal council in 2021.
