The park near Martha’s Vineyard Island in northeastern Massachusetts will provide 84 turbines to generate power for 400,000 households and businesses. The project will create 3,600 jobs, according to the Biden government.
The project is one of the main pillars of Biden’s plans to switch to renewable energy. Under former President Donald Trump, plans for a wind farm near the popular holiday island were undamaged. Plans have been around for years, but opposition from residents, fishermen and politicians was strong. The island is located in a tourist area of ​​Massachusetts, which also includes Nantucket Island.
Investor Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Avangrid, a subsidiary of Spanish energy firm Iberdrola, are the investors behind the wind farm.
