How do we create more (public) space for bicycles? What obstacles must be overcome to provide different types of bicycles such as e-bikes, box bikes and speed bikes with a safe and easy-to-use place in public spaces and underground storage facilities? These questions will be central to a meeting organized by com.fietsParKeur Street Furniture Trade Association which will be held on Thursday 26th September from 10:00am to 11:00am during the exhibition Public space In Jarbors Utrecht.

As demand for green and dynamic mobility grows and more municipalities adopt car-free policies, there is a growing need to redesign public spaces. Bike parking systems and racks at stations and in city centres play a role in this.
The role of the bicycle goes beyond simply supporting a car-free policy. Two-wheelers are also a means to address other social challenges, such as vitality and sustainability.
Good bike parking systems
During the meeting, led by keynote speaker Wim Boot (national and international policy advisor for the cyclists’ federation), participants will be informed about what to do with big bikes, scooters, bicycles and cargo bikes in public spaces, about the future of bicycles and their parking challenges, and about the importance of good bicycle parking systems with quality and comfort guaranteed by the FietsParKeur license. After the presentation there will be a dialogue/discussion with all attendees.
