Spotify is expanding its push into artificial intelligence with a new feature that allows AI-powered assistants to generate customized “Personal Podcasts” based on a user’s schedule, interests, and digital activity.
The feature, announced Thursday, is launching in beta through integrations with AI coding and productivity tools including OpenAI Codex, Claude Code, and OpenClaw Github. Spotify says the update is designed to make personalized audio content easier to create and access across devices.
Spotify Introduces AI-Generated ‘Personal Podcasts’
The new feature enables AI agents to create short-form podcast-style audio summaries tailored to an individual user. Those audio briefings can then be saved directly to a Spotify library for later listening.
According to Spotify, users can ask AI agents to generate audio content based on daily schedules, emails, travel plans, educational notes, or news interests.
The company said the feature is intended to work as a personalized audio assistant, combining productivity and entertainment into a podcast format that can be accessed on phones, tablets, desktops, or in-car listening systems.
“If you’re already using an agent like OpenClaw, Claude Code or OpenAI Codex on desktop, add our new Save to Spotify beta tool and with a simple prompt, turn things like your daily digest, class notes, or weekend itinerary into a Personal Podcast that’s saved directly to your Spotify library,” Spotify explained in its announcement.
AI Podcasts Can Pull From Calendars, Travel Plans and News Feeds
Spotify shared several examples showing how the feature could be used in everyday situations.
Daily Briefings and Smart Commute Updates
One sample prompt asks the AI assistant to scan a user’s calendar, flag scheduling conflicts, summarize urgent inbox messages, recommend important news stories, and suggest a podcast for a morning commute — all packaged into a single audio update under five minutes.
The approach mirrors a growing trend in the U.S. tech industry, where companies are increasingly integrating generative AI into workplace productivity tools and digital assistants.
Personalized Travel Audio Guides
Another example highlighted how travelers could generate an audio itinerary summarizing flight details, airport transportation options, nearby restaurants, shopping districts, and museums in destination neighborhoods.
Spotify also demonstrated how the feature could create educational audio sessions, including sports history explainers focused on events such as the FIFA World Cup, key players, host countries, and tournament storylines.
How Users Can Access Spotify’s AI Podcast Feature
To use the beta feature, users must connect Spotify with a supported AI agent through Spotify’s “Save to Spotify” command-line interface available on GitHub.
After signing into their Spotify account and linking the AI platform of their choice, users can generate and save personalized audio content directly to their library.
The rollout reflects the broader race among major technology companies to integrate AI assistants more deeply into consumer apps and digital ecosystems.
Spotify Expands DJ Feature to More Languages and Countries
Alongside the new podcast tools, Spotify also announced a major expansion of its AI-powered DJ feature.
The company said the feature now supports four additional languages:
- French
- German
- Italian
- Brazilian Portuguese
Spotify is also expanding DJ availability into several new international markets, including Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, South Korea, and Switzerland.
The AI DJ tool delivers algorithmically generated music recommendations with spoken commentary designed to mimic a live radio host experience.
Spotify Continues Broader AI Push
Spotify has steadily increased its investment in artificial intelligence over the past several years, particularly in recommendation systems, voice features, and personalized listening experiences.
The launch of “Personal Podcasts” signals a deeper shift toward interactive and utility-focused audio content, blending traditional podcast formats with real-time personalized information.
As competition intensifies across streaming, AI, and digital assistant platforms, companies are increasingly looking for ways to keep users engaged through customized experiences that extend beyond music and entertainment alone.
For Spotify, the latest rollout positions the platform as part streaming service, part AI-powered personal audio hub — a direction that could reshape how users consume information during commutes, travel, workdays, and daily routines.
