It provides a space for art and culture and at the same time provides shelter for people who want to work in peace. The audience jury believes Westbeat could become a vibrant new place in Amsterdam. The complex, with its impressive arch-shaped windows, is built on a former passage to Delflandlaan.
Ten projects were nominated for the award, including Thonik’s office in Wibautstraat, Pontkade at NDSM wharf, The George on the Zuidas, and the nearby New Court. The award has been organized by Arcam Architecture Center since 2008.
