A teenager was killed and several people were shot during a street party in Washington | Abroad

“Several people” were shot dead near the Moechella festivities in Washington Sunday. According to local media, a 15-year-old boy was killed. A police officer was taken to hospital in stable condition. Two other adults were also taken to hospital. No permission was given for this event.

People reportedly started running when the shots went off. The police are fully involved in the investigation.

Police told WTOP-TV that “several people” were shot dead near the intersection of 14th and U Streets in the northwest of the capital.

The station initially learned of the shooting shortly after 8 p.m. local time, in an area near the Moechella Street party, which authorities did not authorize. Yesterday was held on “Juneteenth”, a public holiday in the United States to commemorate the emancipation of slaves in the United States.

A fifteen-year-old boy was killed. Three adults, including a police officer, were taken to hospital. Their condition is stable, according to WTOP-TV. Police found several weapons near the event.

It is not yet clear whether the suspect has been arrested or not. The exact circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, according to the New York Times. At the press conference, the police chief expressed his alarm at the amount of illegal weapons in the area, because the police would have found many of them early in the evening.
