Austrian coach Wieland to Berchut
Austrian Andreas Wieland (38) will be the new coach of Biershut. Welland started last season with Austrian first-division club LASK as an assistant to current Cercletrainer Dominik Thalhammer. In September Wayland got a chance to succeed Talhammer at T1, but at the beginning of May he was pushed out again. Prior to that, Welland made a name for himself as a youth coach, including the Austrian Federation. (KDC)
Goalkeeper Celestine de Schereffel signs his first professional contract with KAA Gent
Goalkeeper Celestine de Schervel (20) has signed his first professional contract with KAA Gent. The young Belgian player has signed a contract until 2024, with an option for an additional year. The East Flemish Club announced this on their website on Monday.
De Schrevel made the switch from the OHL team to the Buffalos U23 team last year, collecting six clean sheets in 15 games. Last Saturday, the young goalkeeper made his first-team KAA Gent debut in the losing match against Charleroi (1-2).
“I am a strong goalkeeper on the line and also love the great savings in time and standing. As a former striker I can also handle the ball fairly well,” de Schervel said in an interview on the site. “I want to get as many minutes as possible now.” .
Liverpool attract talent Fabio Carvalho
Liverpool announced the arrival of 19-year-old Portuguese Fabio Carvalho via their website on Monday. The young striker will join the Reds from 1 July, when his contract with Fulham expires. It is unknown how much time he will spend with Merseyside FC.
Carvalho had good weather last season with Fulham in the English second tier. Together with former Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who has scored 43 goals in 44 appearances this season, he brought the London club back to the Premier League after a year of relegation. Carvalho can also produce good numbers this season with ten goals and eight assists. Carvalho has been on Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s radar for some time. The German had already tried to sign the Portuguese youngster in the January transfer window, but the deal fell through because the papers were not completed in time.
Next season, the Portuguese will face stiff competition in the Liverpool attack, with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota already becoming big names. However, he doesn’t have to take Divock Origi into consideration. The Belgian striker will bid farewell to the club at the end of the season.
Dortmund take over Saleh Ozkan from Cologne
Borussia Dortmund announced the arrival of midfielder Salih Ozkan (24) on Monday. The Turkey international, who came without transfers from 1. FC Cologne, has signed a contract until 2026. The expected transfer of Cologne-born Ozkan has already caused an uproar among future fans of his former club.
Dortmund is seen as a rival to 1. FC Cologne, in which Ozkan played 31 league games last season and scored two goals. “I’m only leaving my city for a few teams,” responds Ozkan, who is changing clubs for the first time, save for a short loan to Holstein Kiel. “The energy of Borussia Dortmund, which you can literally feel, as well as the opportunity to play regularly in the Champions League, finally made my decision.”
“His mentality and physical qualities, along with his playing intelligence, will be good for our team,” sporting director Sebastian Kell said. Dortmund have already coached defenders Niklas Sule and Nico Schlutterbeek from Bayern Munich and Friborg, respectively. The second number in the German league was also scored by striker Karim Adeymi (Salzburg).
Van der Gag and McLaren will help Ten Hag at Manchester United
As expected, Manchester United have appointed Dutchman Mitchell van der Gaag and England’s Steve McClaren as assistant coaches to new coach Eric ten Hag. Van der Gag (50) came from Ajax with Ten Hag. McLaren, 61, previously worked as an assistant to Alex Ferguson at Man United.
McLaren led FC Twente to the Eredivisie championship in 2010, after being fired from his position as England manager. Tin Hag was Britain’s assistant at Twente for a while. “I thought I was working hard until I met Eric,” says McClaren. “His strength is not only his attention to every detail and organisation. He also has a clear philosophy about the way he wants to play football and the atmosphere he wants to create.”
Since his success at FC Twente, McLaren has also worked with Wolfsburg, Nottingham Forest, Derby County, Newcastle United, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Queens Park Rangers. And in between, he also briefly returned to Enschede.
Tin Hag traveled to England last week, shortly after Ajax’s last league game, to prepare for his new job. It was Sunday with Van der Gag and McLaren in the stands of Selhurst Park at Crystal Palace – Manchester United. The 52-year-old Dutchman saw his new side lose 1-0, but still sit sixth in the Premier League and thus qualify for the Europa League.
Eric Ten Hag has signed a three-year contract at Old Trafford, with an option for another season.
Aston Villa strictly Boubacar Camara
Aston Villa have signed defensive midfielder Boubacar Camara, who has terminated his contract with Olympique de Marseille, for five seasons. The Villains report on Monday.
The 22-year-old was called up for the French national team for the first time last week and sparked interest from several clubs. With Olympique de Marseille, he finished second in Ligue 1 and reached the semi-finals of the Congressional League. In total, Camara played 170 matches for the Lom team.
“I am delighted that we have been able to attract one of the most promising young talents in European football,” said coach Steven Gerrard. “We have a very clear plan to make our team stronger and Bubba is an important part of that.”
Operation for Gomez?
Halfway switch just didn’t happen. Sergio Gomez has continued to suffer a pubic bone injury in recent weeks – he picked it up at the end of April in Kortrijk – but the pain has since increased. The first half at the club yesterday was too much. Surgery may now be necessary for a full recovery. The next few days, with doctor visits, will show that. It will be a blow to Gomez, who has been in the spotlight from several clubs this season. The Spaniard is still under contract with Anderlecht until 2025. (SVL)
Jubin is a tough Slovenian defender
Slovenian Jan Govenc (22) is the first incoming transfer for AS Eupen. The central defender comes from NS Mura – the club with whom he crowned the league title in 2020-2021 – and signed with ‘Am Kehrweg’ until 2024.
Kwame’s departure: ‘If I could choose myself, I’d stay with Anderlecht’
Christian Coam may have played his last game for Anderlecht yesterday. “I don’t know yet where my future lies, but if I could choose myself, I would like to stay in Anderlecht,” the Ivorian said. “I’ve rediscovered the joys of football here, getting back in shape and meeting great people. Now I might still play matches for the national team and then it’s time for vacation. Then we’ll see.” Josh Cullen, who is still on a one-year contract, indicated that he would start preparations for hosting Anderlecht The Irishman said: “Even a contract extension is not out of the question.” (SVL)
What about Aaron and his silence?
Antwerp must, among other things, decide whether to continue with the knight of Harun and Samata. Aaron and the club discuss extending the contract. “Will it be good news? Usually yes,” he laughed. “But we communicate when there is news.” Silent also did not know where his future lay. It is rented from Fenerbahce. After a changing season, Antwerp doesn’t seem to be upping the ante. (free zone)
