New Zealand’s contract players include Brasswell and Patel

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) – All-rounder Jimmy Neesham has been removed from the list of New Zealand cricket contract players for the first time in three years, replacing Wellington founder Michael Brasswell.

The 31-year-old Nisham, who has played in 12 Tests, 66 ODIs and 38 Twenty20 Internationals, battled it out against Martin Castle in the Super Match that will determine the 2019 World Cup final against England.

Neesham missed the New Zealand Championship series against the Netherlands one day and recently allowed the New Zealand cricketer to focus on participating in the Indian Premier League.

Bracewell made his ODI debut against the Netherlands in March and was recently named in the New Zealand Test squad for the tour of Great Britain. He was first included in the list of 20 contract players released by the New Zealand cricketer on Friday.

Ajaz Patel, the third Test batsman to take 10 wickets in an innings against India in December, is back on the list after leaving last season.

Coach Gary Steadt says, “It’s very difficult to complete a pet list of the year.”

“Michael has been consistently active in domestic rounds throughout the seasons now and we definitely see him as an international player in all three formats.

“It’s nice to see Ajaz back on the team after missing out a little bit last season. His value as a red ball major is clear and we are excited to see what role he can play in the Test team in the future.
