News: Mercedes-Benz Introduces EQS SUV

The new EQS SUV shares its longest wheelbase (3,210mm) with the EQS sedan, but is more than 20cm. Extensive dimensions: 5,125 / 1,959 / 1,718 mm (length / width / height). Second row seats are standard power adjustable. There are four golf bags in the luggage compartment. Third row seats with two additional separate seats and various comfort devices for all passengers are available as an option.

The EQS SUV is standardly fitted with an electric drive unit (eATS) on the rear axle, and variants with 4MATIC have eATS on the front axle. On 4MATIC models, the torque shift function ensures a smooth distribution of drive torque between the rear and front electric motors in order to achieve maximum performance. The electric motors in the front and rear axles are permanent synchronous motors (PSM). The advantages of this design include high energy density, high efficiency and high power resistance.

The EQS sedan is the first model of the Mercedes-Benz, where completely new functions can be implemented through over-the-air updates (OTA). This range has been expanded with the EQS SUV. For example, you can activate the trailer assistant or MBUX (Mercedes-Benz user experience) augmented reality for navigation after purchasing the vehicle.

The chassis of the new EQS SUV has four Wishphone front axles and an independent multi-link rear axle. AIRMATIC air suspension (ADS +) standard with adjustable damping. With this you can increase the size of the vehicle by a few centimeters. In addition to the DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs “ECO”, “Comfort”, “Sport” and “Individual”, 4MATIC models have “Offroad”, a special drive program for off-road driving. The rear-axle steering is also standard with a steering angle of up to 4.5 degrees. A variant with a steering angle of up to 10 degrees is optionally available with the OTA update.

Like all Mercedes-Benz models, the EQS SUV features extra robust passenger cells, special decay zones and advanced safety features. The European version of the EQS SUV is the first model of the Mercedes-Benz, which can detect whether the rear seat is actually occupied. If the rear passenger seat belt is not worn, the driver will be given a specific warning. Another new function of Mercedes-Benz is called Occupier Reminder. This system may indicate that children in the back of the vehicle may not be noticed. On models for Europe, Australia and New Zealand, this functionality is standard on board.

Navigating through Electric Intelligence plans a faster and more convenient route, including charging stops based on a number of factors and, for example, adapting to changes in traffic jams or driving style. It has a display on the MBUX infotainment system that indicates whether the battery is charged enough to return to the starting point without charging. In the path calculation, the charging points on the manually added path are given priority. If desired, the recommended charging points can be excluded. The estimated charging costs for a charging stop can also be calculated.

The air quality in the EQS SUV is thought out in its own way by Mercedes Benz, the powerful air conditioning plus. The system is based on filtration, sensors, visual feedback and air conditioning. The HEPA (High Energy Particle Air) Filter has a very high level of filtration to capture particulate matter, particulate matter, pollen and other substances coming from the outside air.

MBUX completely adapts to its users with brilliant software and offers them customized recommendations for countless infotainment, comfort and vehicle functions. Since it is called the zero layer, the most important applications are always delivered at the highest level in the field of vision, depending on the context and environment.

The eye-catching feature on the inside is the MBUX hyperscreen (optional). This huge, curved screen runs from the A-pillar to the A-pillar and has three unique screens that flow together under a glass cover. The 12.3-inch OLED front passenger display has its own display and function. In Europe, as well as in developing countries, front passengers can see the dynamic content while driving. Thanks to this brilliant technology, if the camera detects the driver looking at the passenger’s view in front, it will automatically blur the dynamic content.

The Dolby Atmos sound system takes the audio experience of the EQS SUV to the next level. Personal instruments or voices in the studio mix can be placed around the listening area. This opens up a whole new kind of sound animation, as conventional stereo systems typically have left-to-right dynamics, creating a 360-degree experience using the entire Dolby Atmos.

With the EQS SUV, Mercedes-Benz is taking a step towards emission-free motion, on track to reach the Ambition 2039. This model is made entirely of CO2-neutral. The EQS SUV implements a true zero-emission motion solution with intelligent resource protection and responsible circular economy.
