Outstanding: 14-Year-Old Ukrainian Lev Greenberg (!) Joins Top Golfers at Soudal Open | golf

Rinkevin Golf Course at Shield is this week’s stage for the Soudal Open, a tournament from the DP World Tour. Including Thomas Peters, some Belgians are also making an appearance on the track, but all attention is still focused on the teenager for now.

Lev Grinberg was born in Ukraine, but joined Rinkven International Golf Club in Antwerp a few years ago. The wave bug soon hit, and in recent years, young Greenberg learned the tricks of the trade with his father.

This week, the youngster is also one of 6 amateurs taking part in the Soudal Open, a tournament held at the golf course in Rinkven. This does no harm to the young talent at the moment.

Yesterday, at 14 years, 6 months and 6 days old, Greenberg became the second youngest player ever to make the cut on the DP World Tour. Only Chinese Guan Tianlang (14 years 169 days) was slightly younger in 2013.

After the first round of 70 strokes, Grinberg prepared a second round of 69 strokes yesterday. He finished the second day in 29th place, just like our Belgian star Thomas Peters.

“You played really well,” Greenberg beamed in front of the camera yesterday. “I can’t wait to play on Saturday and Sunday either. It’s good to play well and cut the road at the club I’m a member of.”

“I hope to get as many sparrows as possible and eventually slip into the top 10. It’s unbelievable what’s happening now. One day you were just playing with friends and the next day you were playing against top 50 or top 10 players. Europe.”
