Today, the state president and first lady, Melissa Chandoki-Chinacheri, along with other cabinet members actively participated in a grand yoga session organized by the Indian Embassy in Suriname to mark International Yoga Day.
With this activity at the event center of the Assyria Hermitage High-Rise, Suriname was part of the “Guardian Ring”, a global yoga session organized by India on Tuesday, June 21st. In this process, yoga was practiced all over the world, ending in New Zealand from Japan in the east to the west.
President Chandoki says yoga and Ayurveda have shown tremendous potential and potential for a healthy lifestyle. The head of state reflected the true goal of yoga, which is the path to self-realization and practice. According to him, yoga helps man to realize that he is one with the universe. “Once you reach this state of consciousness, you will gain control over your body, mind and spirit,” Chandoki said. Tuesday, June 21, 2022 marks the eighth global celebration of International Yoga Day. The President of Suriname commended the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi for his efforts to establish this day by the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014; Results supported by 177 countries around the world.
The President spoke about a milestone and one of the greatest achievements for Indians; In India and for its immigrants. On behalf of the Suriname Government, the Head of State expressed his approval to the Government of India for including Suriname in the “Police Circle”, thereby publicizing Suriname’s activities.
