In volleyball, Roeselare was crowned a national champion for the thirteenth time. Minin was also no match for the defending champion in the third final.
Also in the third confrontation between Roeselare and Menen, the defending champion was better than the regional contender in all areas. In the third set, the spring was completely broken in Minin, losing 25-22, 25-20 and 25-13.
Thus, Roeselare expands his title for the club, it is the thirteenth national title in history after 1989, 2000, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2021. To eternal rival and record champion Maaseik, who won 16 titles nationally.
Ferhanmann: ‘We can be proud’
“For me it’s my eighth title, and that’s starting to count,” laughs Roesellar player Matisse Ferhanmann. “The older you get, the closer you get to the end and the more you participate in it.”
“Eight titles are more than I could have dreamed of. We can be really proud. After losing 0-3 at home to Maaseik a while ago, I felt like a lot of people thought it wouldn’t be for this year.”
Then we looked in the mirror individually and as a team and took a different path.
Coach Vanmedijl: “Dominant in 3 beautiful matches”
For coach Stephen Vanmedegil, this is his second consecutive title with Roeselare. “We played 3 great matches in the final which we were in control of,” Vanmedigel replies.
“We had less period in January-February, but since then we’ve grown as a team. It’s a really great team to coach. We can be really proud of this result. We always keep working hard, that’s the strength of this team.”
