The Australian Institute of Economics and Peace (IEP) has analyzed different data from 163 countries and re-ranked the world’s most peaceful countries. These include the country’s political stability, relations with neighboring countries, number of refugees from that country, nuclear weapons, military spending and number of detentions.
From the analyzed data, the company concluded that Iceland is the most peaceful country in the world. This is especially good news for Icelanders, as their country has held the top spot since 2008. The IEP claims that Iceland has (almost) no violent demonstrations and no crime and is therefore an ideal place for a peaceful holiday.
New Zealand is second. Ireland, Denmark and Austria round out the top five. Our country has never behaved so badly; We are ranked 21st.
According to the 2022 Global Peace Index, it is among the top ten safest countries in the world.
