In the Scouting Rooms in Fusillar, youth, members of the nonprofit Youth Association, Labor and Scouts opened a new health building on Sunday. “Previously, there were only three toilets and a shower available,” says coordinator Mark Quattaker.

It was a Sunday afternoon party in the Don Bosco polling rooms at Konijnenbergpad in Vosselaar. The non-profit organization Jeugdwerk and the non-profit organization Friends of the Scouts have acquired a brand new health building with all modern facilities.

“The construction of a new plumbing block was necessary in order to comply with a robust, contemporary plumbing facility,” says Mark Quattaker, construction coordinator for the new space. In addition, the current sanitary facilities are no longer adequate due to the growth in the number of Scouts in Fusillar and the increase in the number of overnight stays in other youth, sports and cultural associations. There were only three toilets and a shower in the youth rooms of Fusillar.”

The new building is equipped with several toilets, showers and washing facilities. “We have also thought about disabled visitors and our Akabi branch (Scouting for Young People with Disabilities, ed.).,” says Mark Quattaker. “The new health building has the latest technology so it can last for many years to come. Future generations of Scouting should benefit from the new facilities.”

Many volunteers from the Fusillar Scouts and from the Youth Ministry worked for several days on the tiles, paint and electrical installation of the building. The cost of the new space is a total of 160,000 euros, 40% of which was supported by Flanders Tourism. The Fusillar Local Council has provided an interest-free loan of 30,000 euros.
