Stranded in Amsterdam? This British group of friends comes up with a very innovative way to go out | The best thing on the web

Stranded after a hot farewell party in Amsterdam? A cool challenge, Alex Cessan’s group of friends (29) thought. The comrades combined the useful and the fun and eventually chose the ferry in Calais to return to the UK. Although that didn’t go smoothly right away…

The 14 comrades watched the flight back to London on 4 June through their noses. Waiting for another plane? They weren’t interested in that. Nor did they like to take the train with Eurostar after careful consideration.

In the end, the strikers decided to take the ferry to Calais and cross to Dover. However, there is one problem: for safety reasons, simple pedestrians are not allowed to board the boat.

Again friends did not give up. They stopped by train in Brussels and Lille, where they bought a lot of … used bikes. Thirteen in total, but the journey to Calvary is not over yet.

Folding bikes only

After all, the train to Calais only allowed folding bikes. To keep getting to the next boat, there was no other choice but to call taxis. Cost: 350 euros per copy.

And what about the fourteenth and last comrade, you might think. He found a couple willing to take him in their car. So the entire team arrived in Dover, barely twelve hours after their flight was cancelled.

“I had so much fun with my friends in these two days, that was the icing on the cake,” said the groom Sesan. “We spent 1,540 euros on those bikes alone. In total, the whole company cost at least 400 euros per head. Then we had to get a lift to our home address (in Worthing, editor). What a great story I’ll tell my kids later. It was This is without a doubt the best weekend of my life.”
