If you look outside the coming night, you can see a special event: a super strawberry moon. what is that? And how did this moon get its name?
What is the Super Strawberry Moon?
There is a full moon every month including June. 2022 June 14 to 15 Watch it at night. The full moon that comes in June is also known as the Strawberry Moon. It has nothing to do with color, because the moon is suddenly not much redder than usual. This moon is called the Strawberry Moon because the strawberry season begins in the 6th month of the year.
So the full moon in June will always be the strawberry moon, but where does the extra ‘super’ come from? This indicates that the full moon will be in June. Then the moon is closer than at other times, it appears much larger and brighter. If so it would be called Super Moon.
In practice, the moon is neither large nor bright; This is the optical illusion. After all, the size of the moon does not change, but its position does not change compared to the earth. Because the Moon orbits the Earth in an ellipse, it is sometimes very close. As you can see in the picture on the right, an ellipse is not exactly a circle.
On the night of June 14-15, the moon is close enough to reach. ‘Close’ is about 357,000 kilometers. From Utrecht in New Zealand to Christchurch it is about 9 times more. So it is still a long way off.
