The clever lights will detect motion using WiFi signals, without motion sensors

Smart smart bulbs will be possible soon Motion detection in a room without motion sensors. Using the new SpaceSense function, the lights can measure tiny fluctuations in Wi-Fi signals caused by people walking around.

So separate motion sensors are no longer needed, and detection is omnidirectional (in all directions). SmartSense can be activated in rooms with at least two Wiz lamps. The connection between the LEDs is completely local, so the data does not travel on the Internet.

Wiz lights can be controlled via APP or WiFi remote control.

SmartSense is part of the updated Wiz V2 app, which is coming out at the end of this month. Most newer Wiz products (after September 2021) can handle this feature. The V2 app offers further improvements: a clearer interface, less complex menus and “Quick Action” and “Light Scene management” functions, which allow you to control multiple lights in a room at the same time.

Signify, the company behind Wiz, also makes Philips Hue lights, but unfortunately they are not compatible with SpaceSense. Where Wiz works over WiFi, Hue uses Zigbee (or in some cases Bluetooth), so Hue lights can’t do anything with WiFi signals.
