A snack cart owner accidentally parked his car early Friday morning at the place Nijmegen municipality designated to show farmers along the arrival route of the four-day marches. Every year the businessman stands with his cart in that place, but this time the police immediately tell him that he has to move to another place. However, the farmers’ working group “Farmers Defense Force” (FDF) has decided to move to another location, according to Nijmegen municipality.
Farmers Defense Force chief of staff Mark van den Aufer said earlier in a message via the app that farmers will now gather on Friday at a pasture owned by a cattle rancher in Medlar. A stage was built there. Friday morning it wasn’t busy yet at that location, where the four-day rally runners also pass. The farmers will work to distribute cheese, eggs and dairy products to passing pedestrians.
FDF: The municipality did not abide by the agreement
According to van den Auever, the tractor that the FDD had transported to Nijmegen was unable to stop it in the place vacated by the municipality. “There was no place. The municipality did not abide by the agreement.”
The tractor is now in the meadow in Midlar with about a dozen other tractors. Van den Auver expects about fifty farmers in Midlar, he said Friday morning.
During the four days of the Four Day Walks, farmers offered cheese and other refreshments to pedestrians at various places along the route. Here and there were also tractors with campaign flags parked on the side of the road or in the meadows along the path. It went without any problems everywhere.
