These are the days or perhaps even the hours of truth by Charles de Kettlery (21). The Club Brugge striker has his sights set on a move to Milan, where a five-year contract is ready for him. It won’t be until Wednesday, but Maldini is far from giving up on the CDK move.
Negotiations at the club level continued for a long time, which made it even more tense, and the same applies to the Italian champion’s board of directors. So, coach Paolo Maldini decided to go to Belgium himself in the hope of completing the deal.
Former defender/star and right arm Frederic Massara boarded the plane today to sit down with Brugge management. They still have a gap to fill if they are to impress Bart Verheij and Vincent Manart, because they are still waiting for an offer of close to €35m. After the acquisition by RedBird Capital, they cannot say in Milan that they cannot put this amount on the table, but they have other transfer priorities – a midfielder for example – and therefore do not want to overpay. However, Maldini is now showing that coming to our country is a serious matter. De Ketelaere would like to see that happen. He is training at the club at the moment, but he hopes the matter will be settled soon.
But at least it won’t be until Wednesday. Maldini will continue to negotiate with Club Brugge for the time being to see if the gap between supply and demand can be bridged.
