Ubisoft to take servers for 15 old games offline

Many of the games on Ubisoft’s list are over ten years old, but there’s also a newer title among them: VR Space Junkies. This game can only be played in multiplayer mode and therefore will not be available and playable at all. Other games can still be played in single player, but all online components will be discontinued.

This means that not all multiplayer game modes will be playable, but also that players will not be able to purchase DLC. In the case of Ghost Recon Future Soldiers, players can only play the offline campaign, and no longer get additional content (such as cosmetics) by linking their Ubisoft account to the game.

The full list of games is below. Far Cry 3 and Assassin’s Creed 3 are only related to the original versions of the games (as of 2012), and the remastered versions will still run online.

  • Anno 2070
  • assassin’s creed 2
  • assassin’s creed 3
  • Fighting the creed of the Brotherhood
  • Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD
  • Revelation Killer Creed
  • San Francisco driver
  • far cry 3
  • Ghost Recon Future Soldier
  • Prince of Persia, the forgotten desert
  • Rayman Legends
  • Silent Hunter 5
  • space enthusiasts
  • Splinter Cell: Blacklist
  • zombie

“Closing online services for some older games allows us to take advantage of our resources to deliver great experiences to players from newer or more popular titles,” Ubisoft said in a statement. Blog post† Online services for the above games will end on September 1.
