Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, has responded publicly for the first time to her husband’s hit on Chris Rock during the Oscars.
“It is very important to talk about Vixen today (The disease Pinkett Smith suffers from and causes hair loss, editor)The actress said at the beginning of the last episode of the podcast “Red Table Talk”. Comedian Chris Rock joked about Pinkett Smith’s haircut during the Oscars, after which her husband walked onto stage and punched him.
“Given what I’ve been through with my health, and what happened at the Oscars, thousands have sent me their stories,” Pinkett Smith said. I’m taking this moment to give the Vixen family a chance to talk about what it feels like to have this condition, and to educate people about what Vixen is really like.”
“That night at the Oscars, my deepest hope was that these two intelligent and capable men would have the opportunity to talk about it, heal, and reconcile. Given the state of the world, we need both. And we all need each other more than ever. Even Then Will and I will continue to do what we’ve been doing for the past 28 years, which is figuring out what’s going on with this thing we call living together.”
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and SciencesThe association that organizes the Academy Awards wanted Smith to be suspended for 10 years after the incident, but the actor himself quit before that could happen. Rock hasn’t spoken publicly about the incident, except for a few brief jokes during shows.
