Windows 11 Desktop Stickers for Insiders Test

Windows 11 Desktop Stickers for Insiders Test

At the beginning of March, the first images of a potential new Windows 11 feature were leaked: desktop stickers. It’s still unclear if and when the feature will be available to all Windows 11 users (and why), but Windows Insiders running build 22621 or later can already try it out with a registry change.

The settings menu for labels is hidden by default, but you can show it like this: open the registry editor (eg by typing “regedit” in the start menu) and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\current\device. Create a new key under Device (right click Device, then New -> Key) named Labels. Now create a new (32-bit) DWORD value on the right, right-click on the menu again, called “EnableStickers”. Double click on the value to open it, and change the 0 in the field to 1. Now press OK and restart your computer.

The sticker function should now be part of the menu when you right-click on the desktop. At the moment, stickers only work with static backgrounds (so no slideshow).

Windows 11 22621 was released earlier this month in the Windows Insiders Beta channel, and is the first build 22H2. The version is also available as an iso file can be downloaded
